SURVEYINGJOBS.COM is a job board: we publish employers’ adverts. We do not represent candidates, place people into jobs or carry out employment checks.
1. Information we collect
If you browse the site
- Technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and how you arrived at the site.
- Cookies and similar technologies: essential cookies to make the site work and, if you accept them, analytics and advertising cookies. See Cookies below.
If you apply for a job through our application form
- Your name, email address and mobile number.
- Your CV and any note you choose to add.
If a job uses the employer’s own website, you apply there and the employer’s own privacy policy applies. We only record that the Apply button was clicked, not who you are.
If you sign up for job alerts or offers
- Your email address and the job preferences you choose (for example level, specialism and area).
If you share your salary on our salary guide
- Your level, employer type, region, salary and (if you choose) bonus and whether you're chartered. We don't ask for your name, and we only publish totals for groups, never anyone's figures on their own. If you also ask for the survey results, your email address is kept separately from your figures.
If you advertise with us or contact us
- Your name, organisation, job title, email address and phone number.
- Invoice and purchase order details.
- The adverts, files and messages you send us.
2. How we use it, and our lawful basis
- To send your application to the employer you chose: to take the steps you asked for (contract), and our legitimate interest in running the job board.
- To send job alerts you signed up for: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time with a quick reply to any alert.
- To send offers and news to employers and advertisers: your consent, or for existing customers our legitimate interest. You can unsubscribe at any time with a quick reply to any email.
- To publish adverts, invoice and provide customer support: to perform our contract with you, and to meet legal obligations such as tax and accounting records.
- To run, secure and improve the website, including measuring how it is used and how well our advertising works: our legitimate interests, and your consent where cookies require it.
3. Who we share it with
- The employer you apply to. They receive your application and become responsible for it under their own privacy policy.
- Service providers who help us run the site, such as website hosting, email delivery, analytics and accounting. They act on our instructions only.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share CVs with anyone other than the employer you applied to.
4. Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We ask before setting any cookie that is not essential, and you can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
| Cookie | What it is for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| PHPSESSID | Essential. Keeps the site working as you move between pages, for example while you fill in a form. | Until you close your browser |
| pj_consent | Essential. Remembers your cookie choice. | 12 months |
| _GRECAPTCHA | Essential. Google reCAPTCHA, which stops spam on our application and booking forms. | 6 months |
| _ga, _ga_* | Analytics, only if you accept. Google Analytics, which tells us how many people use the site and which pages they visit. | Up to 2 years |
| _gcl_au and other Google Ads cookies | Advertising, only if you accept. Show us which of our Google adverts lead to job applications and bookings. | Up to 90 days |
If you choose Essential only, Google Analytics and Google Ads still receive basic, cookieless signals (such as a page being viewed) without identifying you, using Google’s Consent Mode. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
5. Transfers outside the UK
Some of our service providers, such as Google for analytics and advertising measurement, may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the protections required by UK law, such as adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
6. How long we keep it
- Applications: deleted 6 months after they are sent.
- Job alert and offers subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Advertiser and invoice records: 6 years, to meet tax and accounting rules.
- Website analytics: as set in our analytics tools, currently [ADD PERIOD].
7. Your rights
You have the right to access your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email jobs@surveyingjobs.com. We will reply within one month.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
